Live Music : Ethan Johns
Brit Award-winning troubadour Ethan Johns returns to Hay to celebrate the release of his fourth album, 'Anamnesis'. The son of legendary producer Glyn Johns (Stones, Zeppelin, Who), Ethan's own pedigree as an in-demand producer and collaborator is stellar. His CV reads like a who's who of modern contemporary rock. Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne, Kaiser Chiefs, Rufus Wainwright, Crowded House, The Vaccines, Laura Marling, The Staves, and Crosby, Stills and Nash are just some of the people he has worked with.
“I was in some kind of mystic haze/Man I couldn’t see straight,” sings Ethan Johns on the meditative Jackie Lee, coming on like Bob Dylan after a heavy night of Holy Mountain and heartache. At once intensely personal but also asking the bigger, more esoteric questions that have followed Johns since his youth, Anamnesis isn’t like most folk rock records. But then again, most folk rock records aren’t informed by an obscure text from 1616 about spiritual transformation... join Ethan and fiddle player Georgina Leach for what promises to be a very special evening.
