Globe Theatre: Let's Cycle to the Stars

An intergalactic invitation, join the New World Transitional Collective on an incredible journey through the stars as we search for a new planet to inhabit. Step into our space suits and enter our pedal-powered space ship to embark on a voyage of discovery. Your senses will be mesmerised by light, lyrics and language in this theatrical performance, powered by renewable energy. As you unlock the burning desire for exploration that drew cosmonauts and astronauts into space, like moths to an enticing but deadly flame, you will wonder about the fragile world we live in and its' future.

Kids at the Globe: Theatre Workshop with the New World Transitional Collective (NWTC)

Join NWTC's space specialists for a morning workshop, of script devising, image making and acting. A fun and practical session offering new techniques to make theatre, culminating in your very own Space Performance! An exciting and inspiring summer treat

Live at The Globe: Mr "H"and Rob Lear

Rock and Reel magazine recently described Mr "H"s music as a lovingly crafted fusion of Rugged Blues and Jazz with commercial tunes at their core, whilst GTFM radio described his lyrics as a reminder of between the wars decadence. His strident powerful vocal performances and deliberately forceful approach suggest he is a man on a mission!

Theatre de l'Autre Cote presents Optic

The pub is a second home to many, and a first home to most. Through the use of mine, acrobatics and three pint glasses, this Lecoq trained company look through the optics and present a skewed, but leagally coherent mix of the different facets of British culture.

Steph Bradley is embarking on an incredible journey, walking from Devon to all corners of the UK- including Hay-on-Wye.  Gathering Transition Tales as she goes, join Steph to envision a positive future. Her aspiration is that these tales will help us imagine together a world in which we are meeting present day challenges; they can entice us to take the next step towards a future we really want to make a reality.

Great Adaptations:  Shawshank Redemption

The film will be shown in the Lower Gallery whilst the talk is on upstairs. This adaptation of Stephen King's novella ‘Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption' tells the tale of Andy Dufresne, a banker who spends nearly two decades in Shawshank State Prison for the murder of his wife. A beautiful film that is a throwback to the kind of serious, literate drama Hollywood used to make.

Globe Theatre Summer School! Alice in Wonderland


The course runs in half days from Wed-Sat, with one full day on the Friday to include an afternoon of costume making. The performance will be on Saturday lunchtime, followed by a showing of the film version of Alice in Wonderland.

Globe Theatre Summer School running from 4th-7th August and the course is £40 - for a max of 20 children aged 6-12

Live at the Globe: Andy Skellam/Baba Yaga's Consort/Hollowbody

A night of musical musing fresh from Bristol's alt-folk scene, with Andy Skellam, Hollowbody and Baba Yaga's Consort. Andy's beautiful guitar craftsmanship is reminiscent of Nick Drake and Bert Jansch, and is wonderfully supported by Baba Yaga's Consort, who in turn are known for their musical sorcery with delicate harmonies and tribal rhythms. And not to forget the wonderful Hollowbody, whose layabout country folk music was described by Uncut magazine as "Charmingly eccentric finger-picked songs that burrow into your head." A night not to be missed

Saturday Sessions: DJ Diablo

Special Tapas menu for just £5 per person, available from 6.30pm-8.30pm. From 8.30pm the fantastic DJ Diablo will be playing mix of mostly African dance music. Formerly a partner in ' Whole Music' a company that promoted African / World music in the late 80's with all the great African musicians (Ali Farka Toure/ Baaba Maal/ Bhundu Boys/ Papa Wemba etc)

Great Adaptations: Sense and Sensibility

Ang Lee's adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel is one of cinema's finest. Starring Emma Thompson as demure, repressed Elinor, and Kate Winslet as energetic and naïve Marianne, this is a perfectly detailed and graceful interpretation that marks Ang Lee as one of contemporary cinema's most elegant and reliable voices.

Kangaroo Moon weave many strands from world, rock, folk and dance, with acoustic and electronic influences into a funky, psychedelic, heart-lifting wall of sound. Trancy, richly melodic and dancey, listeners experience a sound which unites the body and soul in deep, joyful psychedelia and elemental dance

Saturday Sessions: Film Noir Special- Cool Cat Collective & Friends

Join us for an evening filled with mystery, music and glamour. A classic movie from the film noir era kicks off the evening at 6pm, with special dishes to savour. Live music follows from the one and only cool cat collective, with DJs to take us well into the night. The dress code is strict- think glamorous femme fatales and dashing detectives.

Christian Bale plays one of literature's darkest characters, assuming the mantle of Patrick Bateman. An adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' controversial novel, the film is a superb character study of a narcissistic, amoral 80s Wall Street money maker who can only access his emotions through gruesome and violent murders.

Live at the Globe Special: Hail! The Planes

Described by Bethan Elfyn as 'the most exciting band in Wales right now', this post-folk quartet join us on the eve before they play Green Man Festival. Vocally inspired by the likes of Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire, this is a band to watch. Come down and get into the pre festival spirit!

The Mouths play witty, gritty, groovy pop, reminiscent of Bowie, Blur and The Stranglers, and they return to The Globe after a hit appearance at the Festival here.

Kids at the Globe: Sealegs Puppet Show- The Ugly Duckling

In association with Night Out Wales

Float downstream with the Story Man, in Sea Legs Puppet Theatre's gentle, new musical adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's classic tale of belonging and identity. Meet a host of colourful characters, as they run the troubled duckling out of the farmyard into a cold, lonely wilderness. Journey through the seasons as the hapless creature finds his way in a hostile world. But do not worry! Great Adaptations: Gone With the Wind

An adaptation of  Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel of the same name, it is arguably one of the most popular movies of all time, in which a manipulative woman and a roguish man carry on a turbulent love affair in the American south during the Civil War and Reconstruction.

Terrifically acted, staged and designed, Gone with the Wind remains one of the greatest period epics ever filmed.

Live at the Globe: Gothique

A duo that creates an evening of music with a difference! Rooted in music of the middle ages, tunes from around the world are played on the oud, symphonie (the medieval hurdy-gurdy), bagpipes, and percussion. Gothique brings together moody sephardic melodies and rhythmic arabic folk-music as well as more familiar tunes from across Europe.

A gloriously postmodern approach to adapting texts, Adaptation is another Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman collaboration that subverts the cinematic form. Featuring Nicholas Cage playing identical twin screenwriters, it explores the difficulties of adapting Susan Orlean's book The Orchid Thief, a beautiful book about a floral kleptomaniac, John Laroche.

Live at the Globe: Heed to the Thunder

Heed the Thunder - Alex Gordon's latest project. The man behind the band Lincoln has been wandering - playing with Beirut, Ted Barnes, Beth Orton, Citizen Fish, amongst others. And now he's found a community - in Herefordshire. And there are goats. Heed the Thunder are playing regularly around Herefordshire, and looking to unleash themselves on the world at large. This is a folk band never to be missed!

For 30 years Zuppa has been a DJ and promoter of African & Latin music, including for all the top live bands at the legendary "Bongo Go" Sessions in Birmingham . Some of the places played includes Arakataka (Edinburgh), El GocePagona (Bogota/Colombia) and Moseley Tropical (Birmingham). Zuppa is one of THE top DJ's in this area of Classic & Contemporary Tropical music! Our special evening menu will be available from 6.30pm.

The Sunday Film: Four Lions

Great Adaptations:  The English Patient

A moving story of a Hungarian mapmaker and his dying memories of the romance that tragically alters his life. Burned horribly in a fiery plane crash while crossing the Sahara Desert during WWII, he is tended to by a Canadian nurse with ghosts of her own and haunted by a thief seeking answers for a crime from his past. Michael Ondaatje's novel is beautifully adapted by Anthony Minghella.

Live at the Globe: Jonathan Powell & Band

New Welsh talent Jonathan Powell, was recently described as 'Genius and a little gem' by Frank Henessey and Amy Wadge on their BBC Radio Wales programme Jonathan's music, which has been described by several reviewers as urban folk, has a strong classical influence; he studied the viola at the Royal Academy of Music, London from the early age of 16 after winning the National Chamber competition 5 times!

For 25 years uncle Fester has been missing. An evil doctor finds out and introduces a fake Fester in an attempt to get the Adams Family's money. The youngest daughter has some doubts as to the sincerity of the new uncle Fester. The fake uncle adapts very well to the strange family. Can the doctor carry out her evil plans and take over the Adams Family's fortune?
