Senior Events and Marketing Co-Coordinator

The Globe-at-Hay is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated Senior Events and Marketing Co-Coordinator to join our team in the idyllic ‘town of books’, Hay-on-Wye.
This unique venue presents an eclectic mix of music and arts events including folk, acoustic, classical & world music gigs and DJ nights as well as poetry, spoken word, philosophy talks and private events such as weddings and birthday parties. The Globe also runs a busy cafe and restaurant & a holiday cottage making it a cultural hub within the town centre.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual that is extremely web savvy to create
and edit content for The Globe websites & social media pages. You will be working closely with our management team to create and manage listings for our events calendar, creating engaging and effective newsletters for our customer base, writing exciting posts for Facebook / Twitter / Instagram, etc. as well as some physical marketing and graphic design. There will also be opportunities to devise and implement effectivaze marketing strategies across our public and private events. Working closely with out tight knit team you will also be responsible for marketing the venue as a destination restaurant/café, and unique venue for private events which form an important part of our business.

The successful applicant will need to be a motivated self-starter with a passion for the arts and
music event. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about what the Globe offers, and has the drive and determination to make things happen. You will need to work well in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines, but also have the creative capability to devise innovative and exciting marketing and social media campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:
• Marketing for all our public business such as Food, Restaurant, Events and Venue Hire.
• Designing and implementing innovative posts and content across all social media
• Scheduling and managing event announcements and listings
• Creating regular, targeted email newsletters
• Developing and expanding our key network of press contacts.
• Submitting copy for press listings and releases
• Managing our online competitions and incentives
• Liaising with our regular promoters and artists to acquire exciting and engaging content, and ensuring effective marketing for all parties
• Creating and managing digital content for use within the venue
• Insightful use and responses to analytics where appropriate
• Management of our venue hire marketing profiles

Key Skills:
• Excellent knowledge and experience in CMS and Social Media
• Reasonable knowledge of HTML
• Appreciation for marketing strategy
• Impeccable grammar and copy writing skills
• Passion for music and events
• Friendly and outgoing with excellent social skills
• Positive attitude
• Some photography or Adobe Suite experience
• Ability to prioritise tasks to ensure effective management of workflow
• Knowledge of website coding not essential, but a bonus

Salary: approx. £20,000-£23,000 pa depending on experience

Arts and Events Intern

This is a unique opportunity to play a key part in the growth of the Institute of Art and Ideas (IAI), at the globe at hay.

IAI aims to bring new ideas in the arts to the wider public through festivals and regular weekly events. Through your role with the IAI you will be involved in the programming and coordination of a variety of events at the the globe in Hay on Wye. The events range from comedy and cultural evenings, live music and debates to parties and community events.  You will also be involved in our annual festival, HowTheLightGetsIn, which is the world's largest philosophy and music festival, attracting thousands of visitors to the venue.

There is scope for somebody to take on a great deal of responsibility and gain valuable arts management experience. This is a challenging and varied opportunity that will really open doors for a graduate who is keen to start a career in the arts or events. All applicants should have an excellent education background, and a keen interest in and knowledge of arts and culture in general.  Experience of putting on events and/or promotion and marketing will obviously be an advantage.  The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate project management, journalistic and PR skills. 

This is a 3 month placement which could potentially lead to a more permanent position.
